Home of the great skiing legend and no mean golfer, Franz Klammer, Bad Klienkirchheim, is the definitive alpine golf venue. Set in a steep valley which resounds to the yodels of skiers in the winter months, the Kaiserburg Championship course, designed by Don Harradine, has a unique character. The more open front nine give only a hint of the narrow forests that await you on the way in. The 10th, a long par three, will get your blood pumping and you’ll need the plenty of courage for the tricky drive on the 11th. You can find the spirit you need in the charming clubhouse where a warm alpine welcome is assured.
STC Golf Team’s verdict: “You can almost feel the extra flight of the ball up here and you’ll need all the carry you can muster on the back nine. Every golfer will enjoy the challenge of BKK and to paraphrase Mr. Twain; ‘the only thing that will spoil the walk will be your golf’!”
